Environmentally friendly furniture does not mean no formaldehyde pollution

During the renovation of new homes, more and more people tend to buy environmentally-friendly furniture and environmentally-friendly panels, so why is it that environmentally-friendly decoration materials are used, and the pollution still exceeds the standard?

Environmentally friendly furniture does not mean that it does not contain all kinds of toxic and harmful pollutants

Environmental protection materials still have a certain amount of pollutants, and they will also cause excessive pollution due to cumulative effects after a large amount of use. Especially in the decoration process of the hardcover room, a lot of materials such as boards are used, so it is necessary to ask a professional indoor air quality inspection agency before moving in.

Don't blindly believe in famous brands

In many cases, brand-name furniture or panels are often better than ordinary products, but in actual inspections, nearly 30% of the furniture with excessive pollution is a brand-name product trusted by consumers. According to the owner’s response, this furniture will also have a serious smell, and the ventilation will not improve for several months. Therefore, products of non-famous brands may not be of poor quality, and branded products may not be of up to standard quality.

Ventilation time is too short

People usually think that new homes must be ventilated for half a year before moving in, but the length of ventilation depends on the actual pollution situation. Some homes are simply decorated and use environmentally friendly materials, and they may be ventilated for two months to move in; some homes are complicated to decorate and use a lot of panels. Exceeding the standard is serious, and the ventilation still fails to meet the standard for one year. These two situations are very common. The ventilation time should be flexibly selected according to the actual decoration situation. Not all families need ventilation for half a year.

No need to remove formaldehyde if there is no smell?

The most obvious manifestation of decoration pollution is the pungent smell. The pungent smell often indicates that the pollution is serious, but it should be noted that no smell does not mean that there is no pollution. For example, formaldehyde can hardly be smelled within 4 times the limit. Low-concentration formaldehyde is not as pungent as people think. The odor is generally benzene series and TVOC. Therefore, when there is an odor, attention must be paid to pollution control, but the absence of odor does not mean that there is no need to remove formaldehyde, and the actual test data must be referred to.

Can you move in with confidence when the test meets the standard?

The continuous release of formaldehyde from the sheet into the air lasts as long as 3 to 15 years. Even if the test meets the standard, it does not mean that it will always meet the standard in the future, especially when the summer is hot, or when there is heating in the northern winter, it is a period of the high incidence of pollution recurrence. If there are children in the family, the elderly must pay special attention.
